To spend a day in the mind of Nicopanda’s award winning creative director Nicola Formichetti would be a task worth doing. It would allow us to see the formation of the quirky, trippy, edgy wonderland that is fashion brand Nicopanda. The fashion label based on a fictional panda character and the designer’s childhood nickname launched 2011 in New York is a world all of its own. It is clear to see why Lady Gaga chose this brand for her overall styling. Creator Nicola Formichetti experiments with the abstract, and challenges gender norms in a world of distinct characters and imagery that can only come from a childlike imagination whilst not being suitable for children. Comparative only to a Hello Kitty equivalent for the millennial generation, Nicopanda is not one to be considered mainstream. Decadence meets street punk on the runway as we view the AW16 collection in the New York Fashion Week shows. We are taken on a journey that reflects a free-spirit and shown an AW16 campaign that takes a niche brand into the mass market and draws the mass market back into the niche world. With the collection of oversized hoodies, leather, shaggy fur and styled with platform boots, Nicopanda is the street punk look for the millennial generation.
James Boggia collaborates with Innie sneaker accessories
There are many inventions that have come around and improved our lives in ways that we didn’t know needed improving. Such as the Dyson -we can never go back to the old ways, Netflix - only a fiver? The timer delay washing machine that I didn’t know I was waiting for until it was invented. And now we no longer need to put up with excess shoelaces. How we tie, or don’t tie our shoelaces has already changed for the better with the invention of Innie. The “Laced up but no excess” sneaker accessory was originally created because of the need to have a great looking shoe without all that excess lace stuffed inside. The creator set out to source a product to solve this and after 12 months of testing; “Innie” was born! Making waves all over the world, Innie has recently announce an exciting collaboration with iconic New York sneaker brand PONY. PONY hand-picked world wake boarding champ James Boggia to design a street wear capsule; Boggia x Pony. The new designs are effortlessly cool, comfortable to wear, impeccably stylish and Innies are included in the overall look with all the shoes in the collection. The Boggia x Pony collection in collaboration with Innie is a collection worth taking a look at.
