"It's important to stay grounded and remember why you started" Fashion Designer RCW shares fashion business advice on Business Talk showRead Now
Award winning designer and fashion entrepreneur RCW joined Business Talk Show with Gifty Osafo on her YouTube channel to share her experience as a fashion entrepreneur. I thought I would share some of the key points that I found really helpful. What do you think? I have included the link to the video below.
1. If you do something well, recognition will come
Citing her Grandfather who was a tailor as her inspiration, RCW talked about going to University and learning the trade properly. Start by being good at what you do and what you want to create, she advised; and the recognition will come because people will see the quality in what you produce.
2. RCW stands out by creating individually inspired garments for the everyday woman
The brand custom-made tailored garments for customers so it is exactly as they want it. RCW brings the technical expertise to put the customers dream into reality. This is great because even a day suit for work can be a uniquely crafted masterpiece that no one else has. It is as unique as the customer is individual.
3. When you value the details in a garment you are most likely to value it and look after it
On the subject of fast fashion, RCW explained that variety in your wardrobe is ok. What does stand out is that in most cases people treat their more detailed designer items differently - this is very telling.
4. I'm here to make people happy
The consultation process is very important, RCW explains. There is always a consultation process and we as a team interact with the client every step of the way until they are satisfied with the product. Communication is essential so that the customer is happy with the final product. The end goal, RCW explains is to make people happy.
5. It's a great feeling to be recognised for doing good work.... I'm humbled by that.
It is important to remember the journey it took to get to where you are, not to take it for granted even when you are doing well. RCW talked about the importance of staying grounded and remembering where you started.

RCW is sponsoring my journey this year as a Ms Africa UK finalist 2021. I am delighted to be sharing my platform with such amazing young and inspiration talent. As a Finalist I will continue to support my community, local charity and young entrepreneurial talent. I believe in motivating and supporting the next generation.

The personal sponsors for Ms / Mrs Africa UK finalist officially announced their affiliation to the pageant in March 2021. The contestants all joined Zoom for a virtual meeting and were entertained by Headline sponsors Herbalife skin and African Emporium UK.
This was also the chance to introduce my personal sponsor, award winning designer and young entrepreneur RCW. I gave a short introduction and presented the video clip that we had produced especially for the pageant. Take a look here.
It has been a fun and inspiring time as a finalist of the pageant, I really appreciate being a part of a great team. It has really taken my mind off this lock-down and given me a focal point and something fun to think about at this time. I look forward to taking part in more activities coming soon.
I almost forgot - we are nearly ready to present the evening gown! Adept at making custom made garments to suit individual personality, I look forward to the evening wear that RCW is making. Keep in touch for some "journey to the dress" snippets and pictures.
