E4 Presenter, Jameela Jamila proves to be uber cool girl du jour with her launch of a music event aimed at people living with disabilities.
Founder Jameela Jamil, says: “I one day decided I simply can't continue living in a world that excludes such a large part of society. Some of my best friends are those people. Their disabilities should not prohibit them from having the same social experience as those of us who do not face the same challenges. In this day and age, and with so many technological advances, I simply refuse to believe we can't make more effort to create a more balanced society, one that accommodates those of us who already face so many daily struggles already. I am so grateful that I am finally in a position where I can help to do something about it”
As a working parent I always look for ways to workout that doesn't get in the way of quality time with the little one or disturb actual work time. That's why I opted to do at home Tabata training. This literally consists of 8 reps of 20 second bursts of activity with only 10 seconds break in between. The four minute workout is said to be as effective as a 20 minute workout. Don't believe me? Have a go, I've been doing burpees. Twenty seconds has never felt so long!
In the past month I have joined the virtual Plank Challenge by Virtual gym, I'm up to 120 seconds or 2 minutes - epic (I am lion, hear me roar!). Challenged my new bezzies at Red bear sports but seems I caught them offguard! Looking forward to the new sports wear range out in February 2015. Watch this space!
As we all look ahead to planning Valentines day in 3 weeks, got me thinking about my own relationship status. I don't intend to create one of those "boo hoo, poor singleton" blogs. Quite frankly I've enjoyed my period of "re establishing the self love" through a series of self indulgent weekends. Apparently it's not great to get too used to being alone lest the selfish narcissism overtakes you. Quite frankly, this week my DVD box set and sharger-landy (affectionate term for lager shandy) calleth my name. I do foresee a weekend of little sleep as I proceed to series binge in my pyjamas. Maybe 1st February, I shall glance at a dating website.
Not sure what came over me when I went to look for a new handbag. It was necessary (no really) because I am the kind of person that has a favourite thing and uses it to pieces and that's what I did to the long strap bow front purse. So off I go on the hunt for a similarly practical handbag for everyday use. Not sure how I ended up with what can only be described as a briefcase. It is a handbag, sure it is but looks like a mini briefcase, smells like a briefcase, tastes like a... No not really. It's so handy, bit like a satchel without all the buckles and such. everything fits in without it being too big. I think I found my new style handbag. Inspiration also led me to Maxwell Scott who have a great selection of ladies leather bags and satchels.
H&M just announced its first ever festival collaboration with the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Not content with just sponsoring the Californian music festival for six years, H&M are taking their partnership to the next level and creating a first of its kind officially branded collection.
The women’s collection focuses on a romantic trend with graphic tops, fringe, lace, rompers, crop tops, shorts, and wide legged pants for a feminine bohemian look. For men there will be graphic t-shirts and shorts. Perfect timing for the 1970's inspired year of fashion that we're having.
Bit of a wait though, the collection will be coming to the UK from March 26th.
It's seems that all my mates are out on dates and I'm all like; 'Suits' is back on Dave, woohoo! Love it with the well written snappy, witty lines. Everyone looks hot and basically stoosh. Not sure how realistic it is, lawyers looking glam but the clothes the women wear are just amaze! So now I'm all on a mini mish to dress like Jessica Pearson. Very rarely is there a strong black female character to base my daily style on so I'm enjoying it.
Do we still say Happy New Year? How are we all doing with the resolutions after 1 week? Statistics and personal confessions tell us every year that most people don't keep to them for very long. I guess mine should be, blog more! Good news on that front, I've been accepted to write for www.blackbridesandweddings.com . Time to swot up on what's hot for brides this year. Don't forget your www.fashionlondon.co print glossy next week! Keep in touch.
It may be fireeeeeezingly icy cold out there but all this talk of "new year, new me" has got me planning my spring/summer wardrobe. So I've re-watched some of the key LFW shows and selected the looks I reckon will be a keeper. What's your look?
